Suspect in manufacture of fake documents freed on bail

-

CEBU, Philippines - One of two members of a group allegedly engaged in the manufacture of fake public documents recently busted by the National Bureau of Investigation was temporarily freed by the court after posting bail of P24,000.

Municipal Trial Court Judge Gil Acosta ordered the release of Oliver Rosaopan after he posted bail for the two counts of the falsification of public documents filed against him and companion Ronnie Primaco.

However, Primaco remained in the custody of the NBI because his bail documents were not processed completely yesterday.

Prosecutors indicted Rosaopan and Primaco for two counts of alleged violation of Article 172 in relation to Article 171 of the Revised Penal Code.

They were caught last Friday in the act of receiving the marked money as payment of fake documents that an NBI undercover agent had ordered for purposes of entrapment.

The entrapment operation stemmed from a complaint from the city government following the discovery of fake business permits used by a popular fast food chain, which were traced to the printing shop Rosaopan and Primaco were operating along Junquera Street. – Fred P. Languido/JMO   (THE FREEMAN)
