Pagasa predicts rainy week

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that rains would continue to prevail over most parts of the country in the next two to three days because of a shallow low pressure area off Northern Samar.

Pagasa weather forecaster Rommel Yutuc said that Central and Southern Luzon, the whole of the Visayas and Mindanao would have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

The rest of the country, meanwhile, would be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

Yutuc, however, said that the shallow LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

Compared to last week, he said, the weather would be better in the next few days as the southwest monsoon weakens.

As of 2 p.m. yesterday, Yutuc said the SLPA was spotted at 150 kilometers east-northeast of Northern Samar. He said that the coastal waters throughout the archipelago would be slight to moderate.

Tropical cylone “Isang” (international name Molave) exited the country over the weekend after leaving at least five people dead and displacing 100,000. — Philippine Star News Service       (THE FREEMAN)
