Man charged for stabbing cabbie
CEBU, Philippines - A construction worker from barangay Luz, this city has been charged with attempted murder before the Regional Trial Court for stabbing his neighbor last June 12.
Georich Mirafuentes has been charged for stabbing Joel Flores, a taxicab driver, who said that the suspect had “no ill reason to stab him.”
Flores said that while he and his wife were outside of their rented house in sitio Sto. Niño, barangay Luz, Mirafuentes who was standing near began attacking him for no apparent reason.
Based on the account of witnesses, Mirafuentes was there standing for quite sometime but when Flores motioned to get inside the house, the suspect suddenly began stabbing him with a knife, hitting him in the left side of the torso.
Mirafuentes allegedly tried to stab the victim a second time but the latter was able to parry the attack and managed to run inside his house.
Later on, Flores was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center while the suspect, who was believed to have been harboring grudge against the victim, was later arrested at his residence. — Jasmin R. Uy/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
