Pa shot to death before twin sons in Argao

CEBU, Philippines – Bullets peppered the body of a father past 6 a.m. yesterday near a school in barangay Colawin, Argao.

Fifty-five-year-old Jasper Ephan of sitio Maay-ay, barangay Ubaub was accompanying his twin sons to the Colawin National High School when two motorcycle-riding men, without any word, shot him several times.

PO1 Ramuel Banugon of the Argao Police said that based on their initial investigation, Ephan had just gotten off the motorcycle he was driving when the assailants shot him.

One of the twins, Banugon said, narrated he already noticed of the assailants somewhat waiting for someone until they shot his father dead. The boy said that one of the perpetrators was wearing a white shirt, while the other was donning on a dark jacket.

Police are looking at two angles as motives of the incident - one of which is revenge because according to the report they received, the victim has a previous case for murder that could have prompted the family of his victim to retaliate.

The second angle has something to do with the victim being an alleged neighborhood toughie; one who allegedly had many enemies.

Police recovered 11 empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol and a deformed slug from the crime scene.

The body was taken to the Tupas Funeral Homes for autopsy. – Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
