RP marks Int'l Day vs Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

CEBU, Philippines – Today is the observance of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in line with the declaration of the United Nations on December 7, 1987 and Presidential Proclamation Number 264.

The commemoration of the IDADAIT today is headed by the Dangerous Drugs Board.

DDB Chairman Vicente “Tito” Sotto III asked all concerned agencies to participate in the celebration.

One of the agencies that Sotto asked for support is the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Sotto wrote DSWD Secretary Esperanza Cabral a letter to request her to implement activities that would help increase public awareness on the effects of drugs.

He said as the “government’s policy which is to care for the well being of the Filipinos,” the activities would be able to increase the knowledge of people on the evils of illegal drugs. — AJ de la Torre/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
