CEBU, Philippines - A jeepney driver accused a policeman detailed at the Police Regional Office-7 of slapping and threatening to shoot him after their vehicles nearly hit each other last Tuesday along Natalio Bacalso Avenue, Barangay Kinasang-an Pardo.
Right after the encounter, Nathaniel Requiso, 24, resident of Upper Calajoan, Minglanilla and a driver of a passenger jeepney with Naga-Minglanilla route, went to Pardo Police Station to complain against the actuations of PO2 Eduardo Librando, assigned as base police (gate security) at the Camp Sergio Osmeña.
PO3 Roberto Escaler, who investigates the case, said that based on the account of Requiso, the latter was driving his vehicles at around 4 p.m. heading towards Naga when he almost rammed into the car of Librando.
Irked, the policeman allegedly shouted at the PUJ driver, “Pusilon tika ‘ron! Kung dili ka muhunong, balbag imong ulo.”
Afraid that Librando will make true of his threats, Requiso allegedly get off from his PUJ, which he parked few meters ahead. The police officer also allegedly got off from his vehicle, approached Requiso and then hit his head and slapped his face.
Not contented, the policeman allegedly pointed his gun at the PUJ driver telling him, “Kaya tika’ng pusilon.”
Because of fear, Requiso said he left his jeepney while his passengers were caught off guard and were prompted to get off from the vehicle.
Supt. Paul Labra II, deputy city director for operations of Cebu City Police Office said they are ready to assist Requiso in filing a criminal complaint for grave threats against Librando. — Niña G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
