Young Minds scholars present solutions to societal concerns

CEBU, Philippines - Scholars of the Young Minds Academy of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. conducted a Youth Citizens Forum at the Eduardo Aboitiz Development Studies Center yesterday wherein they presented key recommendations in dealing with certain pressing societal issues for consideration of local government units, civil society leaders and residents.

These YMA scholars are part of the various youth programs of the RAFI.

In the first program, the scholars underwent a three-day immersion from March 29 to 31, this year, in a chosen community here in Cebu. The activity allowed the scholars to explore the community and familiarize themselves with its issues, values, and ways of life. In line with the final requirement of YMA which is a community-based project, they had to gather pertinent information to support a team project.

The second program saw YMA scholars participating in the fifth run of the Triennials Xchange Series in the neighboring province of Oriental Negros last April 13 to 16. The scholars were also able to meet some of the RAFI Triennial Awards finalists and awardees, which was part of their final requirement.

The third program involved another batch, selected ones, who were given the opportunity to undergo a three-week immersion in The Netherlands from April 24 to May 13 which provided delegates the opportunity to meet with organizations and individuals implementing solutions to various issues relevant to both Holland and the Philippines.
