CEBU, Philippines – Sr. Supt. Jesus Gaquing yesterday formally assumed as director of the Cebu Provincial Police Office in a turnover ceremony hosted by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
“I am counting on you,” Garcia told Gaquing.
Gaquing took over Supt. Erson Digal who served as officer-in-charge of CPPO for two months but was eventually assigned as head of the regional logistics office. Gaquing said he is ready to address three main areas of concern in the province, including peace and order, public safety and anti-insurgency.
Garcia said she chose Gaquing because of his excellent track record and credible endorsements, although admitting that it was not easy to choose someone who is “most reliable” and who could live up to the performance of former Acting CPPO Director Carmelo Valmoria.
Digal, for his part, said he is both happy and sad of the development – happy that he has been promoted but sad that he would no longer work directly with the provincial government. Garcia, in turn, thanked Digal for his service.
Meanwhile, Police Regional Office Director Lani-o Nerez advised Gaquing to continue implementing their programs that aim to combat illegal gambling activities. - Barbara Anne B. Ocaba and Christopher Gabriel C. Bonjoc/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
