CEBU, Philippines – Sexy star and Hot Babe member Jennifer Lee asked the court for a 15-day extension to submit her counter-affidavit in relation to the criminal charges filed against her by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
Lee, along with her sexy actress Maureen Anne Rodriguez Taylor, alias Maui Taylor, and actor Paolo Paraiso was charged before the Municipal Circuit Trial Court for violation of the Women Development Code of Cebu following their participation in a bikini show during the Holy Week.
The Cebu Provincial Prosecutor’s Office indicted the organizers - Elton Tio, Chinggay Floro and Mercury Gumera - and performers of the controversial bikini show in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island.
Resort owner Rommel Solomon was also charged for the same violations.
Last month, Taylor asked for 20-day extension to submit her counter-affidavit, citing her “heavy workload.” Taylor clarified that asking for an extension “is not intended to delay the present proceedings.”
Lee’s lawyer Emil Karlo Joven clarified that her motion for extension to submit her counter-affidavit is not meant to delay the court proceeding.
Lee said she received a copy of the complaint last May 8. She was given 10 days to submit her reply.
The organizers and choreographer of the show, which was held on Black Saturday at Rommel’s Beach Resort in Sta. Fe town, have already submitted their separate counter-affidavits, denying they committed “scandalous, vulgar, indecent or lewd fashion show.”
If convicted, the accused could suffer a penalty of more than one year in prison or a fine of not more than P5,000 or both depending upon the court’s discretion. — Garry B. Lao/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
