CEBU, Philippines – A Korean businessman lost over P130,000 to a former employee who robbed him inside his restaurant located along Salinas Drive, barangay Lahug, Cebu City past 9 a.m. yesterday.
Chang Nam Lim, 60, a resident of barangay Apas and owner of Chuson Galbi Korean Restaurant said he was forced to give the money to his 26-year-old former kitchen helper Medjohn Bernabe, resident of barangay Lahug, after he toted a handgun at him and threatened to shoot him.
Insp. Romeo Cubo of the Theft and Robbery Section of the Cebu City Police Office said that they received the alarm from the victim himself who phoned them right after the incident. Responding policemen were no longer able to locate the suspect who immediately fled after the heist.
The victim narrated to the police that the suspect entered his restaurant and demanded a separation fee from him that resulted to an altercation between them. But the suspect suddenly pulled out a handgun, believed to be of .38 caliber, from his waist and nudged it against the victim’s head while demanding for the latter’s wallet and the day’s income of the restaurant.
Witnesses alleged that they were not able to help the victim because Bernabe was armed and they believed the suspect has other companions.
