No blackout during Pacquiao fight

CEBU, Philippines - As the world anticipates the much-awaited match between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton tomorrow, a power company assured that no power interruption will hit Cebu during the fight. 

Global Business Power Corporation president Jesus Alcordo said that he asked his plant managers to reinforce maintenance personnel, especially for their Cebu plant, tomorrow. GBPC supplied 50 to 70 percent of power during the recent blackout that lasted six hours.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines revealed that the Cebu power plants such as the Toledo Power Corporation, East Asia Utilities Corporation and Cebu Private Power Corporation were operational during the blackout except for the Naga Power Plant, which has undergone maintenance. — AJ de la Torre (THE FREEMAN)
