Five more people charged for visiting Pasil drug den

CEBU, Philippines – Prosecutors have elevated to court additional drug charges against the other five companions of the University of Southern Philippines students arrested for visiting a drug den in barangay Pasil last April 3.

Alvin Takan, Juanito Gaviola, Jeffrey Chavez, Eljoe Mier, and Gwendolyn Marie Cañares are facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

The five were arrested when the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a buy-bust operation against a certain “Ampoy,” an alleged drug dealer in barangay Pasil.

In her affidavit, IO1 Kristian Sesante said the five suspects, along with the other five Nursing students from USP, were allegedly sniffing shabu in a make-shift room when the buy-bust was conducted.

Sesante said they heard commotion inside the room and when they checked, they reportedly saw the suspects along with several drug paraphernalia scattered on the ground.

The PDEA agents recovered two pieces of small transparent plastic sachets of shabu and a trash bin.
