Arroyo visits Cebu today

CEBU, Philippines – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is visiting Cebu today to grace the 28th Asian and Ocenian Stock Exchanges Federation (AOSEF) General Assembly at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City.

President Arroyo is expected to arrive at 12:15 p.m. at the Mactan Cebu International Airport together with Press Secretary Cerge Remonde and Trade Secretary Peter Favila.

By 12:30 p.m., she and the rest of her entourage, including Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Arturo Radaza, will proceed to the event’s venue.

The President is expected to be back in Manila by 2:30 p.m.

Considered as the supreme decision making body of AOSEF, the event will be attended by international delegates. It meets annually at a pre-determined venue provided in rotation by member stock exchanges.

The AOSEF is composed of stock exchanges operating predominantly within the Asian and Oceanian region.

Its purpose is to facilitate the exchange of information and to promote mutual assistance among its members with a view to developing the securities markets in the region.

AOSEF is composed of organization of stock exchanges that include the Philippine Stocks Exchange Inc., Australian Stock Exchange Ltd., the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Ltd. (Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd.), Jakarta Stock Exchange, Korea Stock Exchange (Korea Exchange, Inc.), Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (Bursa Malaysia), New Zealand Stock Exchange (New Zealand Exchange Limited), Osaka Securities Exchange (Osaka Securities Exchange Co., Ltd.), Stock Exchange of Singapore Ltd. (Singapore Exchange Ltd.), Surabaya Stock Exchange, Taiwan Stock Exchange Corp., The Stock Exchange of Thailand and Tokyo Stock Exchange (Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc.).
