Pregnant masseuse hangs self on day of kid's graduation
CEBU, Philippines – A two-month pregnant woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself inside their house in 72 B. Aranas Street, barangay San Nicolas Proper, Cebu City last Wednesday afternoon.
The victim, Marcelin Catalya, alias “Lynlyn,” 32, single, a massage therapist, was found hanging at around 3 p.m. by her daughter who arrived home from her graduation at her kindergarten class together with her grandmother.
Police’s investigation revealed that Marcelin took her own life by tying a 225-inch long cable wire around her neck with the wire’s other end tied to the beam of their house’s stairway.
Aside from a ligature mark around her neck, investigators found no external injuries that would indicate foul play on the body of the victim. Other than the wire, police also recovered a suicide note and a blue ballpen from the crime scene.
A report over dyHP said that in the victim’s suicide note, she was telling her partner to stop his being a womanizer and focus his attention on their daughter.
Marcelin’s cadaver was taken to Oriental Funeral Homes for post mortem examination and to determine if she was indeed pregnant as claimed by some of her relatives. — Niña G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
