CEBU, Philippines – The suspect in the shooting of a barangay tanod was shot twice while he and his wife were walking on their way to the police station to clear his name in barangay Tupas, Ronda town last Friday morning.
PO3 Ranulfo Gabatan identified the victim as Jeneper “Edot” Yusores, of legal age, married and a resident of the area.
Police initial investigation revealed that Yusores is suspected to be the one who shot Cameol Landiza, 43, married, a barangay tanod of the said place last Thursday night.
At around 11 a.m. on Friday, while Yusores and his wife were walking on their way to Ronda Police Station to clear his name, a man suddenly shot him hitting his left should and left forearm.
Yusores was rushed to Barili District Hospital but he was later transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City. The gunman, who was identified as Danny Landiza, of legal age and resident of the place, remains at large until now.
Police said that at around 7:20 p.m. last Thursday, Yusores allegedly shot Landiza using unknown caliber of handgun while the latter was on his way to barangay hall to report for duty.
Landiza sustained a gunshot wound to his left knee and brought to Barili District Hospital for treatment.
Gabatan said based on their investigation, the motive of the shooting was personal grudge. — Johanna T. Natavio/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
