Cops challenged to solve killings

-

Cebu City Police Office director Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador Jr. told his policemen to be challenged by what he read from an editorial of a local newspaper that described them as “incompetent” for not solving two big murder cases early.

At the same time he described the editorial as a sweeping statement and unfair accusation that hit them below the belt.

The editorial was based on Rama’s praises of the Mandaue City Police Office for their timely solution to the murders of Emilie Nuñeza who was raped and killed by her textmate and call center agent Lynn Vi Ebarita who was found dead in a hotel.

Rama also challenged the CCPO to also immediately solve the case of the late fiscal Patrick Ian Osorio and Iranian student Ashkan Aminian who were both killed last month by unidentified men.

“Let’s take this as a challenge but at the same time we will not allow others to malign our dear CCPO. We take this as a challenge to perform better in reducing crime in the city to be able to prove to the people that we are really capable and efficient in our job as police,” Comendador told his policemen.

Comendador said that they conduct a weekly briefing with Rama about the progress of the investigation regarding the killing of the fiscal and the Iranian student.

The CCPO chief said that since his men are doing their jobs and that since he was assigned as the CCPO chief, eight policemen under him have been injured in the line of duty.

The said injured policemen were SPO2 Renante Nioda, SPO1 Reynaldo Callet, SPO1 Allan Magalso, SPO1 Erwin Ferrer, PO3 Antonio Din, and PO2 Edgardo Baton and PO1 Daryl Velasco.

Mobile Patrol Group chief Supt. Armando Radoc said Rama is assuming a “one-sided decision” without considering their accomplishments.

“Nag-focus lang sila on these two cases. It is unfortunate lang gyud nga wa pa ma-solve ni. We are working hard on solving the cases,” Radoc said.

Comendador called for a conference yesterday morning for the top officials of CCPO as well as the eleven police station chiefs in the city to discuss the said matter. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/BRP   (THE FREEMAN)
