Cebu City assistant prosecutor Mary Ann Castro is now the new officer-in-charge of the Board of Special Inquiry of the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation.
In a press conference yesterday BID Assistant Secretary for the Visayas Romeo Junia and BID-7 Alien Control officer Casimiro Madarang III said that through an appointment made by BID Commissioner Marcelino Libanan, Castro was appointed to the position effective Monday.
Castro is replacing lawyer Leobarlo Enad who retired from office yesterday.
Junia clarified that Castro’s job as a city fiscal will not be a conflict of her duties as the new chief of the Board of Special Inquiry as her duty is to investigate all the foreigners who wish to stay in the country
“The final say will still be with the commissioner himself,” Junia said. — Jasmin R. Uy/BRP
