Trike driver sought in Mandaue killing

CEBU - Mandaue City Police Office Homicide Section chief George Aniñon said they are now looking for a tricycle driver who had been working for the wife of an OFW who was stabbed dead inside her house during a robbery early morning last Sunday.

Neighbors of the victim, Maria Jocelyn Mendoza, said they saw the tricycle driver sleeping in the tricycle owned by Mendoza at 4 a.m. last Sunday prior to her killing.

Aniñon said Mendoza hired the driver months ago to drive her tricycle. However, he stopped after it developed mechanical trouble last December and was left derelict outside her house.

The homicide chief said that it was a cousin of the suspect who said he disappeared after learning of the incident.

Although one of the victim’s children also saw a man wearing a no. 5 jersey shirt moving in the house after her mother had been killed, she failed to see his face.It was not yet determined how much the amount of cash and valuables taken during the incident.

Aniñon continued to urge the victim’s neighbors to cooperate with the police. — Flor Z. Perolina/BRP   (THE FREEMAN)
