Welding causes Argao firecracker stall explosion

CEBU - A firecracker stall in Argao town caught fire and exploded last Monday after sparks from a nearby welding fell on the merchandise.

Firemen from the Argao Fire Station said the stall owned by a certain Efren Singko was located beside the left wing of the Diosdado Macapagal Sports and Cultural Center in barangay Poblacion.

Around 3:30 p.m. last Monday, sparks from a man doing welding on the sports center ignited some of the fireworks which exploded and caused a fire.

Luckily, the fire station was just nearby and immediately put out the fire before it could harm anyone or spread to other stalls that also sold firecrackers and pyrotechnics. 

Last December 22, five firecracker stalls in Toledo City exploded and went up in flames but no one was injured. — Harry Vincent H. Cañeda (CIT Masscom intern)/BRP   (THE FREEMAN)
