Fratman blamed for fatal stabbing

-

CEBU - A fraternity member was accused of stabbing dead a man who punched his younger while eating at a roadside eatery along Salinas Drive, barangay Lahug early morning yesterday.

Witness Allen Brian Marinduque, 24, said it was Kent Ryan Sabulao, 23, a member of the Alpha Omega Sigma fraternity, who stabbed dead Marlou Mari, 24, of sitio Sun-ok, Lahug.

Marinduque said he and Mari eating in the eatery when they were attacked by ten youths and one of them stabbed Mari fatally in the left side of his chest. Marinduque said that he is certain it was Kent Ryan as the man was his neighbor.

John Mark Sabulao, 18, the brother of the suspect, alleged that he was with a friend when he was bumped and punched by the victims, although he cannot identify which one of them did what.

John Mark further alleged that he went to Kent Ryan who was with another group and sought for help. Kent Ryan subsequently went to the victims and allegedly confronted them about what they did to his brother. The stabbing followed.

Marinduque sustained non-threatening injuries but Mari was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center after being stabbed and was declared dead on arrival.

Kent Ryan, who denied the allegations yesterday at the Homicide Section, kept on asking John Mark to reveal who really stabbed Mari, but his brother could not give another name.

John Mark said that there were two other youngsters who helped during the attack.

But Marinduque positively identified Kent Ryan, who was allegedly the only fair-skinned among the group and the suspect was detained despite his wailing.
