Citom collections up 16% last month

CEBU – The collection of Cebu City Traffic Operations Management increased by 16 percent this November compared with last year’s figure covering the same month.

In a monthly Comparative Report submitted by Sofia Bacolod of Citom and noted by their chief, Arnel Tancinco, collections last November reached P3,435,995 which is P565,467.50 higher than the amount collected last year.

The highest increase in revenue was noted from the motorcycle-for-hire permit fees which was only P630 in November last year but which rose to P14,962.50 November of this year.

It is followed by the revenue from filing of police report which significantly increased by 532 percent because of the doubling of fees.

The November 2007 collection in the filing of police report was only P19,280 which rose to P121,990 last month.

The third enforcement with the highest revenue collected is the jaywalking revenue which increased from P76,800 to P269,200 or P192,000 higher.

On the other hand, the enforcement with a significant decrease was noted in the enforcement of towing fee ordinance.

Last year, Citom collected P82,900 which went down to P11,000 this November or 86.73 percent lower.

This is because towing services are now privatized to two firms and the city government only gets a percentage of their collection.

The collection for clamping fee also decreased by 58.3 percent November this year from last year’s P331,610.

Smoke belching revenue decreased this year by 83 percent. Only P500 collection was noted last month compared with last year’s P3,000.

The highest revenue-generating enforcement of Citom is the parking fee with over P2.7 million this November, while there is zero collection from travel line violations. — Ferliza C. Contratista/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
