CEBU - A nautical student of the University of Cebu is now in serious condition after he was stabbed by his neighbor while they were drinking along Cabreros Street in barangay Basak-San Nicolas at 2 a.m. yesterday.
Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section chief Mario Monilar said 24-year-old Francis Rey Labayan suffered multiple stab wounds in different parts of his body during the attack allegedly by a certain Jayjay Ebesa.
Labayan – who sustained stab wounds to his head, chest and right thigh – managed to run away from Ebesa and boarded a tricycle that brought him to a hospital along Cabreros Street.
It was learned that prior to the stabbing, Labayan and the suspect, together with another friend, were seen drinking in the area.
Homicide investigators are planning to summon witnesses in the incident.
In another incident, peanut vendor Ricky Paano, 22, was pushing his cart home along F. Jaca Street in Pardo when he was shot and wounded by an unidentified man Thursday evening.
Witnesses said the gunman, who was riding a motorcycle, quickly fled after he shot Paano, who was hit in his left shoulder with the bullet exited right shoulder. — Rene U. Borromeo/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
