Carcar, Bogo, Naga police chiefs to stay

Despite the recent decision of the Supreme Court invalidating the conversion of Bogo, Carcar and Naga into cities, Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Carmelo Valmoria clarified this will not affect the police force of the three local government units.

Valmoria said that police station chiefs of Bogo, Carcar, and Naga will remain in their posts and the number of personnel assigned under them will also stay the same. Each of the three police stations has 21 personnel.

Bogo City Police Station is headed by Supt. Tito Satera, Carcar City Police Station by Supt. Teofilo Siclot and Naga City Police Station by Supt. Renato Malazarte.

Valmoria said that they might even augment the number of personnel of the three police stations considering the crime situation in their areas.

“It is not necessary that Naga, Carcar, and Bogo be headed by superintendents, but I prefer superintendents considering the situation in the areas compared to other municipalities particularly in crime incidents,” he explained.

But he said they still must have the compendium of police regarding the changing of police chiefs.

Valmoria also expressed concern that the recent decision of the Supreme Court will have an affect on the three LGUs’ assistance to the police because they will now be receiving lesser internal revenue allotments.

He said the allocation for fuel as well as the intelligence and operation funds of the three police stations will be affected.

“These will be affected kay mugamay na ang budget sa area (LGU),” he said. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
