CIDG turns over to court missing "guns" from raid

-

CEBU - The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group yesterday brought to court the evidences it failed to immediately turn over after implementing a search warrant on businessman Noel “Titing” Remedio early this month.

The CIDG turned over three airsoft M-16 rifles, one MP5 airsoft, two air guns, air soft magazines and oxygen tanks to the court yesterday.

Judge Geraldine Faith Econg of Regional Trial Court Branch 9 earlier ordered the CIDG to explain why these items were not among those turned over to the court despite them being in the inventory of items seized from Remedio on November 6.

Econg noticed the subject items from a picture published in the newspaper the day after the warrant was served.

Despite the delivery of the missing items, Econg still directed the CIDG to explain in writing why the items were not among those turned over to the court immediately after the operation.

CIDG officials explained that the subject items were not included in the return because they were yet to verify whether the air soft guns should be included in the charge for illegal possession of firearms.

Econg also noted yesterday that there are still missing parts of the guns, like the sling and the scope, compared to the ones on picture in the newspaper.

Econg was the one who issued the warrant that allowed the CIDG to conduct the raid on November 6 in relation to allegations of illegal possession of firearms.

The raid yielded a caliber .380 Llama pistol, Cal. 45 pistol, shotgun and several live ammunitions including air soft guns and air guns. – Fred P. Languido/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
