Intensity 3 quake rocks Metro Cebu

CEBU - If you felt the earth move under your feet early yesterday afternoon, it really did.

An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale shook Metro Cebu at 1:14 p.m. according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The quake’s epicenter was in Talisay City, but there are no reports of damage or casualty.

Rolando Montanez, science and research specialist of Phivolcs said the quake was of tectonic origin and was felt in Cebu City, Talisay City and Minglanilla at intensity 3. In Mandaue City, they felt an intensity 2 tremor.

The quake was reportedly caused by the movement of the local fault line in the island of Cebu.

An intensity two tremblor hit Cebu City last August 25, but the epicenter was located in Maasin, Leyte.
