14-year-old girl caught with gun

CEBU - A 14-year-old girl was arrested for gun possession early dawn yesterday but residents in the area where she was apprehended said the firearm actually came from her fellow gang member.

The supposed owner of the firearm reportedly handed the gun over to the girl shortly before the barangay tanods arrived.

The girl was subsequently caught with the .38 revolver in her possession. She, however, refused to divulge the identities of her fellow gang members.

The girl, also a resident of barangay Tejero, is a member of Crips that engaged in an alleged shootout with equally notorious gang Bloods around 1 a.m. yesterday along M.J. Cuenco Street in barangay Tejero.

The girl is now in the custody of the Women’s Desk of the Cebu City Police Office.

Three other minor girls were reportedly arrested with her but were later released by the police. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
