Woman stabs pa for beating her mother

CEBU - No longer able to withstand the cruelty of her father on her mother, a 24-year-old woman stabbed him last Wednesday morning near the barangay hall of Proper Ermita, Cebu City.

Police said Sundalisa Nodalo, with two kids and resident of said barangay, was forced to stab her father Reynaldo Nodalo, 46, after she saw him beating up her mother, Sonia.

Reynaldo, a utility worker of the barangay, is currently recuperating at Cebu City Medical Center due to a stabbed wound in the right side of his body.

According to the report of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, Sundalisa attacked Reynaldo using a knife after she allegedly lost her temper when she saw his father maltreating her mother.

Upon seeing Reynaldo hurting Sonia, the suspect allegedly took a knife from the kitchen and immediately stabbed her father.

Sundalisa immediately fled from the place but she was chased by the barangay tanods. She surrendered at the barangay hall of Sawang Calero.

The suspect allegedly apologized from her father for what she did but the latter did not accept her apology and expressed determination to file an attempted parricide case against his daughter.

It was found out that Reynaldo and Sonia were already separated for 14 years but Reynaldo allegedly still gives regular financial assistance to his family from his P3,000 monthly salary as a utility worker of the barangay.

Prior to the stabbing, witnesses said the couple had a heated argument because Sonia was demanding for P1,000 from Reynaldo who only wanted to give her P500. Irked, Reynaldo beat up Sonia that made Sundalisa furious and stabbed her father. — Niña Chrismae G. Sumacot/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
