Four killed in 2 road accidents
CEBU – At least four people were killed in two vehicular accidents in Alegria town and Sibonga town both last Sunday.
In Alegria town, three were killed after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a Ceres Bus.
Bonifacia Vicada, 48, and her nine-year-old son, Francis, a Grade 5 pupil of Lepanto Elementary School, were riding a black motorcycle driven by Jayson Legarte, 21, of barangay Lumpan, Monteller, Alegria town, on their way to barangay Lepanto.
Upon making a left turn to the National Highway, a Ceres Bus Liner bus with body number 8233 and plate number FVW-527 hit them head-on.
Bus driver Sifronio Largo, 45, of Poblacion, Ginatilan was not able to step on the brakes upon seeing the motorcycle already in his lane.
Vicada and her son were killed instantly while Legarte was brought to the Reinhard Wertgin Memorial Hospital in the same municipality where he died an hour later.
SPO2 Juan Cardona said that a certain Nella Lim who claims to be a relative of the Vicadas will file charges against Ceres owner Vallacar Transit and the driver.
Largo voluntarily surrendered to the police and a case of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homicide and damage to property was filed against him yesterday.
Meanwhile, Felman Encabo, 23, of barangay Langtad, Naga City, was killed after his motorcycle was hit by a white Isuzo Canter with plate number GEN-318 in barangay Candaguit, Sibonga town.
According to the police, Encabo was on his way to Argao when he collided head-on with the truck driven by Baselio Saldia, 44, of barangay Salong-on, Dalaguete town.
Encabo was thrown onto the road while the Canter fell into a small creek as a result of the impact.
Saldia surrendered to the Sibonga Police Station while Encabo was brought to the Deiparine Medical Center where he died a few minutes later.
