Bank collector robbed of P30T

CEBU - Three unidentified armed men robbed a bank collector in Tabogon town of his almost P30,000 cash collections last Tuesday afternoon.

Reports reaching the Cebu Provincial Police Office stated that Orlando Abuyo, 26, a resident of Dapdap, San Remegio and a collector of Fair Bank Investment Corporation Bogo City Branch, just came from the Libaong, San Remegio when the incident happened.

SPO2 Jonalito Saladaga of Tabogon Police Station said Abuyo narrated that he was driving his motorcycle in Caduawan, Tabogon town past 5 p.m. when the three men suddenly came out from the sugarcane plants and declared the holdup.

Abuyo alleged the men covered their faces with shirts and one of them was armed with a shot gun while the two had caliber .38 revolvers.

Right after the perpetrators declared the robbery, Abuyo stopped his motorcycle and was no longer able to resist when they demanded for his black backpack, which allegedly contained cash worth P27,000, representing his collections for the day and a passbook.

Abuyo said the suspects then disappeared among the sugar cane plants while he proceeded to the town police station to have the incident reported.

Saladaga said they are exploring all angles in the robbery including a possible inside job or involvement of his neighbors who are aware of his profession or neighbors of his clients.

Last month, two collectors of Fair Bank Investment Corporation Toledo City Branch were also robbed but only P1,100 cash was taken.

Collectors Junner Lumongsod and Marvie Ramos were riding a motorcycle when they were blocked by two masked men in the interior part of barangay Kabangkalan.

Aside from the collections, the robbers also took the victims’ cell phones and wallets.

Chiefs of police stations in the province were recently reminded anew to review strategies over the resurgence of robberies in rural areas perpetrated by motorcycle-riding men. — Ferliza C. Contratista/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
