Man arrested for stealing PLDT cable

A 25-year-old man was arrested for stealing a seven-meter long aerial cable of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company along Osmeña Boulevard yesterday dawn.

Arrested and now detained at Fuente Police Station was Enarciso Malasado, 25, a resident of Toledo City. Five of his companions, however, eluded arrest.

Malasado refused to reveal the names of his companions. But Eulises Miguel Lopez, a security officer of Abellana National School, said about six persons stole the PLDT cable.

“Akong nabantayan nga nag-uyog-uyog na ang wiring mao pagsusi nako ang suspect naglatay na sa cable ug gipangputol ang linya,” Lopez said.

Lopez coordinated with the police which prompted the arrest of Malasado, who was trapped in a classroom on the fourth floor of the school.

“Naratol na man to siya (Malasado) mao nga nilayat siya sud sa campus ug na trapped na sa 4th floor,” Lopez added.

The aerial cable is now in the custody of Fuente Police Station as the management of PLDT is preparing a criminal case against Malasado.

Danilo Santillan, a member of asset protection division of PLDT, said the theft was the third involving their aerial cable along Osmeña Boulevard.

In yesterday’s theft, Santillan said a total of 300 subscribers of PLDT were directly affected.

Santillan said the PLDT office is also preparing a cash incentive for Lopez for giving information to the police which led to the arrest of Malasado. — Ramil V. Ayuman/LPM
