Moocher slain over beer bill

A man was shot in the head after he did not pay for his bill in a videoke bar in Balamban town last Wednesday night.

Larry Piedad, 31, of barangay Ibo, Toledo City was shot in the head while running away with his two friends from a videoke bar in barangay Sta. Cruz, Balamban, Wednesday night, after they failed to pay for their beer.

According to a spot report from the Balamban Police Station, Piedad, was having a drink with friends Bryant Bendanillo, 25, of Ibo, Toledo City, and Marvin Basera, 24, of barangay Arpili, Balamban town at PJ Videoke Bar last Wednesday.

Around 11 p.m. after consuming two large bottles of beer the three hurriedly moved to leave, but they were called by the cashier to pay their P140 bill.

They ignored the cashier who then reported to the owner, Emie Cristoria, who was sleeping at that time.

Cristoria reportedly went out armed with a .45 cal. pistol and gave a warning shot but the three ignored Cristoria and ran even faster from the place.

Cristoria aimed at the group and shot, hitting Piedad in the head and dropping him to the ground. Piedad was brought to the Balamban District Hospital but declared dead on arrival.

Cristoria immediately fled after the incident while police recovered two empty .45 cal. shells at the crime scene.  Ferliza C. Contratista/BRP
