President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo yesterday led the inauguration of the renovated Cebu City Legislative Building (CCLB) and the Plaza Sugbu at the Cebu City Hall grounds.
Arroyo, who was assisted by Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena and Vice Mayor Michael Rama, led the guests in cutting the ribbon and unveiling the marker of the Plaza Sugbu during the event.
The building, which houses the Dona Eva Macaraeg-Macapagal Session Hall, is worth P120 million, P15 million of which came from the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA).
The CCLB, which was the old City Hall, now houses the city administration offices, a clinic, child-minding center, cafeteria, social hall, and caucus room, aside from the City Council Session Hall.
The grounds fronting the CCLB, formerly known as Rizal Park, is renamed Plaza Sugbu.
The new Plaza Sugbu was developed by the Cebu City government with assistance from the PTA. The development was extended up to the area where the Magellan’s Cross is located.
