Cops eye other angles into killing of juvenile

Police are now looking into other angles pertaining to the shooting of a 17-year-old boy who was first reported to have been shot for his cell phone in Bayanihan Village, barangay Basak-Pardo last Monday noon.

Clint Florida died past 6 p.m. Monday at the Cebu City Medical Center from a gunshot wound in the back of the head.

Initial reports had it that Florida was walking along the road texting while the assailant followed and shot him in the head without warning.  The assailant then reportedly picked up the victim’s cell phone and walked toward the National Highway.

The victim was on his way to pick up his cousins from school.

But the boy’s aunt reportedly told the police that her nephew does not have a cell phone, contradicting claims of some witnesses who saw the incident.

Yesterday, Pardo Police Station chief Sr. Insp. Aureo Sanchez told The Freeman that they have already a cartographic sketch of the gunman and possible identification.

Meanwhile, city police director Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador told reporters that he ordered a background check on the victim in Bantayan town where he comes from as the killing might involve an old grudge.

The boy, who just finished high school in his hometown, was asked by his aunt in Basak-Pardo to live with them and help take care of her children.  Edwin Ian Melecio/BRP
