Man charged for murdering woman, daughter in Argao

-

A complaint for double murder was filed against a man who allegedly axed to death a woman neighbor and her one-year-old daughter in Argao town last month.

Argao Police Station chief Teodulfo Manatad filed the complaint yesterday before the Cebu Provincial Prosecutors’ Office against Mark Allen Anislagon.

Anislagon was seen walking out from the house of the victims before they were found dead in the morning of June 30.

Roel Gomez, 24, of barangay Lengigon, Argao, said he saw Anislagon at about 5:00 a.m. hurriedly step out from their house. Gomez said he did not sleep with his family that night because he helped his employer at the Carbon Public Market in Cebu City.

On her way home, Gomez said he called out wife Jocelyn and daughter Rhyza Jean. He noticed that the lights were off and that his wife and daughter did not answer his call.

Gomez said he saw Anislagon, wearing a yellow jersey and maong short pants, hurriedly went out from the door of their kitchen. To his surprise, Gomez said he saw his wife lying on their wooden bed bloodied and his daughter missing.

Rhyza Jean was later found dead near a corn field about 20 meters away from their house.

Gomez said he immediately reported the incident to his father and the police who then conducted operation against Anislagon. However, the police operation yielded negative result.

The police only recovered the yellow jersey and the maong short pants worn by the suspect during the commission of the crime. The police also recovered the axe allegedly used by Anislagon to kill the victims.

Gomez said that a week prior to the incident, Anislagon attempted to enter their house but was prevented by his wife.

He said his wife had told him that Anislagon wanted to sleep in their house while he was out for work. – Fred P. Languido/LPM
