Drunks shot man to death

Three men, after drinking and singing at a videoke store in barangay Mambaling, left the place at about 3 a.m. yesterday but returned with eight others to stab and shoot to death a man who was talking with his cousin near the place.

Police investigators said the victim, 24-year-old Jerome Cabo, suffered gunshot wounds in the back of his head and on his right leg, and a stab wound on the right side of his body.

At the time of the attack, Cabo was talking with his cousin, 20-year-old Angeles Descadero, who was left untouched but had to scamper quickly from the scene out of shock.

Descadero thought that they have left to call it a night. However a few minutes later, Rosales’ group returned with about 8 unidentified companions.

Cabo’s aunt, Violeta Mijares, also saw the attack and when she rushed in to help her nephew, the assailants immediately left.

Cabo died at the Cebu City Medical Center two hours after he was taken there.

The police have yet to determine the cause of the attack but they have the names of the three suspected assailants: Alexis Rosales, 30, a certain Eman Morales, and another known only as “Adon.” A police manhunt against them is now underway. — Trex Eden O. Ignacio, UP Intern/RAE
