A 39-year-old man was stabbed to death by his neighbor following a quarrel on the manner a dog meat was cooked last Sunday evening in Lower Calajoan, Minglanilla town.
The victim, identified as Allan Badayos, suffered multiple stab wounds to different parts of his body and was declared dead on arrival at the Minglanilla District Hospital.
The suspect, Arnold Basabe, was rushed to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Hospital for hand injuries he sustained during the incident.
According to SPO1 Romeo Barde, Basabe and a certain Ramonito Cabatuan were having a drink in the place when the victim, who was reportedly drunk, arrived.
Badayos, who was armed with a kitchen knife, reportedly suddenly stabbed Basabe. With the knife pierced through his chest, Basabe managed to fight back and subdued Badayos, who then fell to the ground.
“Gipugos pag-ibot sa suspetsado ang kutsilyo nga nataop sa iyang dughan ug daling mibalos ngadto sa biktima nga natumba,” the police said.
Prior to the incident, Barde said Badayos reportedly got mad when his friends disapproved of the way he cooked the dog meat.
“Nasuko kini dihang gisaway ang giluto niyang iro nga wala mauyoni sa iyang mga barkada,” Barde added. — Garry B. Lao/LPM
