Two dead in separate motorcycle accidents

Two men were killed in separate accidents involving motorcycles last Sunday in Naga City and Barili town.

The first incident happened early Sunday along the National Highway in barangay Tinaan, Naga City, where a certain Franzel Hamoy, 17, was killed.

Hamoy and his friends Victor Brando, 40, and Philip Lapitan, 34, were on a Honda XRM motorcycle driven by Hamoy when they were hit by a ten-wheeler dump truck.

The three were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital where Hamoy was declared dead on arrival.

The driver of the dump truck Nestor Caramihan, a resident of Katipunan St., barangay Labangon, Cebu City, surrendered to the police after the incident.

Later in Barili town, a man was killed after his motorcycle was allegedly hit by a Ceres bus.

According to the investigation of the Barili police, Michael Amante, a resident of Bulacao, Cebu City, was on his Honda XRM motorcycle heading to the city when a Ceres bus hit him near a bridge.

Amante hit his head on the concrete before falling off the bridge to the ground around 10 feet below.

The Barili police immediately coordinated with Carcar City Police Station to apprehend the driver of Ceres bus with body number 844 for questioning.

But the driver was later released after no evidence was found to link him to the accident.  — Queenie Chariz Dayanan, CNU intern/BRP
