High school sophomore shot dead, boy zapped

A second-year high school student who was reportedly involved in a gang was shot dead by an alleged member of a rival gang along F. Ramos corner Jakosalem Streets in barangay Cogon Ramos early morning the other day.

The victim, identified as Christian Allan Capite, 18, and a resident of D. Jakosalem Street was shot to death by allegedly by a minor, a freshman of the same public high school.

According to the investigation conducted by elements of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, the victim was walking in the area with his friends past midnight.

They reportedly met the suspect with his own circle of friends in an alley and the suspect allegedly shot Capite several times using a gun of unidentified caliber, hitting him in the chest.

Calipe was taken immediately to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, but was declared dead on arrival. 

Ramon Flores, Jason Recto, Eric Acunin and Federico Apostol, all residents of barangay Cogon Ramos, witnessed the incident and chased the suspect and his group but the four men failed to collar the perpetrators. 

Meanwhile, an eight-year-old boy was zapped dead in sitio Puntod, barangay Alaska-Mambaling the other day.

According to the investigation of the Homicide Section of the CCPO, Giette Asamsa, resident of said place, was eating ice-candy outside a shellcraft factory when he got in contact with an improvised fluorescent lamp extension.

Asamsa was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center by his neighbors but failed to make it there alive.   Princess Mondejar and Queenie Chariz Dayanan/MEEV
