3 arrested in bar melee

Three men were arrested, one of them reportedly is a former National Bureau of Investigation-7 confidential agent, after a bar melee yesterday dawn in Mango Square along Gen. Maxilom Avenue.

PO1 Ariel Dicdican of the Fuente Osmeña Police Station, in a telephone interview, told The FREEMAN that those arrested were identified as Jose Maria Cal, Jr., Christopher Pajes and Novem Eduave. Their female companion had eluded arrest.

The complainants Dr. Ed Hallar, Emmanuel Amador, Neil Go and Jose Mari Sato who reportedly suffered bruises on the different parts of their bodies after the brawl accused the suspects of gun-poking.

Dicdican said that Hallar, Amador, Go and Sato were having a drink inside the bar when the suspects approached them and started punching and kicking Hallar and Amador for no apparent reason.

Radio reports said that a rumble ensued between the two groups. One of the suspects reportedly drew out a handgun and pointed it at the victims, then threatened them by saying, “alis na kayo, pa’g hindi kayo aalis pagbabarilin ko kayo.”

For fear of their lives, the four went out of the bar and reported the incident to the Fuente Police who then dispatched policemen to said bar.

Police arrested the three but their female companion was able to escape. However, police said they found no handgun from the suspects.

The complainants filed charges for physical injuries against the suspects before the City Prosecutor’s Office.  — Edwin Ian Melecio/MEEV
