Belgian tourist loses cash to pickpocket

-

A male Belgian tourist lost his wallet, containing 650 euros (P42,300), to a female pickpocket along Perpetual Soccour Street in barangay Kamputhaw around 4 a.m. yesterday.

The victim, 44-year-old Thierry Allegaert, told the police that the woman befriended him but, shortly after they walked together while conversing along the street, left him immediately and went her way towards the Cebu Business Park.

Allegaert said that when the woman disappeared, he found out that his bag was already opened and his blue wallet was gone. He described the woman to be about in her late 30s, about 5’2" tall, slim, and had a fair complexion and long hair. Allegaert is a bachelor from Berchem, Belgium who has been here in Cebu as a tourist and staying at the Hallmark Hotel in the city’s downtown area.

City policemen, led by PO1 Jovito Labra of the Theft and Robbery Section, are now investigating the case, hoping to identify and arrest the woman. — Princess Mondejar/RAE
