Spoiled lechon downs eight in Sta. Fe town

-

Eight people, including an entire family, landed in the hospital due to food poisoning after eating lechon in barangay Talisay, Santa Fe town in Bantayan Island the other day.

The victims were identified as Lucia Pasilan, 63; Mirasol Illustrisimo, 24; Floramae Pasilan, 19; Aldrin Pasilan, 12; Marvin Pasilan, 30; Chinchin Pasensya; Dina Bonna, 49 and a certain “Inday”, 39.

In an interview over dyDD Bantay Radyo, Marvin said he brought the lechon home after it was given to him last Thursday night.

Early morning on Friday, they all ate the lechon but minutes later they experienced stomachaches, dizziness, loose bowel movement and vomiting.

“Pagka-alas diyes sa buntag nipauli ko tungod sa pagsakit sa akong ulo ug tiyan,” Marvin said.

Last Sunday night, the family decided to be taken to the Bantayan District Hospital for treatment.

Bonna and Inday, who were staying with the family for a vacation, were admitted to a private hospital in Cebu City.

Meanwhile, two inmates of the Tabogon police detention cell are asking for medicine from the Department of Social Welfare and Development after suffering from skin disease.

SPO4 Anecito Manluluyo, deputy chief of Tabogon Police Station, said the inmates were Vicente Gulani and Eduardo Masong, who are facing charges for murder and frustrated homicide, respectively.

Last March 17, inmate Austropel Andales died after suffering from chest pains and swelling in different parts of his body.

The detention cell of Tabogon can only hold four inmates at a time but sometimes has to hold more than that.

“Kabugnaw gyud siguro ang hinungdan sa paghupong sa ilang kalawasan kay sementado man gud ang salog nga maoy ilang higdaan,” the police said.  Garry B. Lao/BRP
