Teen shoots self dead after teacher’s scolding

A second-year high school student allegedly committed suicide after he was scolded by his teacher in barangay Lunas, Asturias town, last Wednesday afternoon.

The police identified the fatality as Allan Inosolango Bejogan, 13, a student of Colonia National High School who lived in barangay Lunas.  He was found dead in a pool of his blood after having shot himself with a .45 cal. revolver in the chest.

SPO3 Romeo Deodato Rallos of the Asturias police station said based on the accounts he gathered from the relatives and neighbors of the boy, the fatality reportedly took his own life after his teacher lectured him.

Rallos said they have not determined the reason why he was scolded by his teacher.

”Matud pa lagi sa mga tabi-tabi sa mga silingan nga gikasab-an kuno lagi ning bata-a sa iyang maestra, kana sigon sa nahipos nato nga estorya.  Hinuon istorya pa lang gyud ni ug ato pa gyud ning i-confirm,” Rallos said, adding that they are still conducting further investigation into the incident.

The authorities are trying to establish where Bejogan got the revolver after the victim’s mother, Meryl, denied that they owned the firearm.

The victim’s mother, according to the police, is convinced that his son committed suicide.  Garry B. Lao/BRP
