BAI wants any livestock disease reported pronto
The Bureau of Animal Industry has encouraged farm owners to report immediately to the authorities any occurrence of livestock diseases in their places.
“We need honest-to-goodness disease reporting, especially in the provinces, so that interventions can be administered right away,” BAI director Davinio Catbagan said in an online news release from the bureau.
The quick reporting of disease outbreaks will enable the Department of Agriculture to contain and curb quickly any possible spread of disease, and to protect the P162-billion livestock industry and the P118-billion poultry industry.
The BAI has also wanted to have a resolution penalizing violators or livestock raisers who fail to report disease outbreaks immediately. — Jasmin R. Uy/RAE
