Capitol invites contractors for Gawad Kalinga project
The
Necias Vicoy, Jr., chairman of BAC-Infra, said that the housing project has an approved budget of P3,974,726.63 and a contract duration of 175 calendar days.
Prospective bidders should possess a valid PCAB license applicable to the contract, have completed a similar contract, and have key personnel and equipment available for the prosecution of the contract.
The BAC-Infra will conduct post-qualification of the lowest calculated bid.
The provincial government already started construction works for the development of a housing community at a Capitol-owned lot in Minglanilla last month.
The provincial departments concerned already started the procurement process of materials for the said socialized housing site, which is expected to be a model community.
The community will also have a water system and other infrastructure support that will be ready when the families finally move in the houses.
An initial 300 houses are up for construction. Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said she is looking for an expansion of the planned new community to 1,000 households; most of which are families that will be affected by her administration’s move to recover prime properties in
With the expected number of households to relocate in the area, the Capitol is studying on the option of employing a technology that will convert wastes generated from these households into energy.
A study is being conducted on the volume of solid wastes expected from the new community, as well as from nearby subdivisions, and their biogas potential.
If found feasible, the Capitol is looking at using energy from wastes to power the streetlights and water pumping system of the new community. — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/MEEV
