A 30-year-old jobless man who is reportedly a drug addict was shot dead while eating outside an eatery in sitio Lawis, barangay Lorega-San Miguel yesterday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Fabian Rafols, who was killed instantly after sustaining four gunshot wounds to different parts of his body.
A relative of the victim told GMA-7 Balitang Bisdak that the killing could be the handiwork of the so-called vigilantes since the assailant, who was wearing a cap, looked like a police officer.
But responding operatives from the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office are still trying to establish the identity of the suspect who, according to the neighbors, was wearing a bonnet.
According to reports, the gunman approached the victim, who was eating outside an eatery near his house, and shot him several times.
The police said the victim was a known drug user in the area and has two standing warrants for his arrest over drug-related cases.
Meanwhile, 23-year-old Elvi Retuela was killed after the tricycle he was riding bumped into an electrical post along V. Gullas Street Tuesday night.
His companion, 24-year-old Romel Pamaitan of barangay Guadalupe, sustained several injuries to different parts of his body but is now in safe condition.
SPO2 Nelson Jaime, an investigator of the Traffic Division of the CCPO, said Retuela, of Sagay City in Negros Occidental, died instantly because of the severe damage to his head.
“Kusog kaayo ang impact sa iyang pagkabangga sa poste kay kusog man gud siya nakapadagan sa iyang motorsiklo nga nisugat sa dagan sa trapiko diha sa Manalili (now V. Gullas Street),” Jaime said. — Garry B. Lao/LPM
