Brownouts to hit city barangays on Saturday

Two to 12-hour brownouts will hit different barangays in Cebu City on Saturday to facilitate the pre-uprating of the Visayan Electric Company, Inc. transmission lines.

From 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., portions of barangay Talamban including the mountain barangays of Agsungot, Bacayan, Binaliw, Cambinocot, Guba, Lusaran, Mabini, Paril, Pit-os, Pulang Bato and part of barangay Banilad will experience power interruptions.

Specific areas expected to experience the power outage are Gov. Cuenco Ave. (from corner ML Quezon St. up to Leyson St.); Highway 77; Highway 11; Miñoza and Leyson streets; Gov. Cuenco Ave. up to corner Lapu-lapu Road, Andrew’s Subd., Cedaville and Luna residences, Cypress Garden, Doña Rita Subd., Garnettville Subd., Gonzales and Jayme compounds, Greenfields Subd., Greenwoods Subd., Hidden Valley, Hidden View, Holy Family 1 & 2 Villages, IPI and SMC Housing, Joseville Subd., Ligaya Subd., Maryville Subd., Miramonte Subd., Mountain View Village, Nashville Subd., Silverhills Subd., Sto. Niño Village, Sunny Hills Subd., Sunny Mede Subd., Tabor Hills, Urban Poor Tapuco, Villa del Rio 1 & 2 Subd., Villa Leyson, Villa San Jose and Woodland Subdivision.

Schools located in the said areas, such as Bright Academy, Cebu International School, CITE, Gullas Medical Center, Maria Montessori School, Marie Ernestine School, USC Talamban Campus and Woodbridge School, will not also be spared from the said power interruption.

Other establishments that will also be affected include ADS Talamban Warehouse, Antique Shop, Blessed Titus Brandsme, BPI Family Savings Bank, Cebu Highland Farm, Cherry’s Bakeshop, Church of Christ, CT Arcade, Earl’s Marketing, Family Park, Foodland, Gear Sales and Services, Gizelle’s Salon, Jollibee, Julie’s Bakeshop, Juna Trading Corp., Kauswagan Multi-purpose Hall, Linea Fina Inc., Lowei Gen. Merchandise, M. Lhuillier Farm, Maya Security Agency, MCWD Depot, Melah Jayne Trading, Meredian Realty, Metrobank, MJJM Mendez Bldg., North Baptist Church, North Gen Hospital, NR Sanitary, Oblates of the Virgin Mary, Orange Brutus, Petron Gas Station, RCBC Savings Bank, Rose Square, Rubees Pharmacy, San Alberto Carmelite Formation Center, San Roque Chapel, Shell Gas Station, Siesta Lane, Star B Kitchenette, Steam Laundry and Talamban Sports Complex and Fire Station.

On the same day, from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, VECO will also facilitate the pre-uprating of their lines which would result to the power interruption in the entire barangay Budlaan and part of barangay Talamban, including sitio Banica, sitio Baugo, sitio Lower Tac-an, Kang-Umbao and sitio Kangmaya Busay.

Residents along Tac-an Road including Villa Reyna and Ridgedale Subdivision, Kapasar Heights, Sunny Hillside, Cebu City Batching Plant, Linea Fina Inc., Marie Ernestine School and Budlaan Elementary School will also be affected by the power interruption. — Mitchelle Palaubsanon/QSB
