2 men claim barangay captain beat them up

Two men have accused the barangay captain of Tabok, Mandaue City of beating them up yesterday morning.

One of the complainants, Jimmy Collamat, 26, of sitio San Vicente Ferrer, barangay Tabok, came to the Basak Police Station of the Mandaue City Police Station around 5 a.m. yesterday and told the police that Tabok barangay captain Dario “Dhar” Tariman mauled him.

According to PO1 Joven Renante, Collamat said he was driving his motorcycle along H. Abella St. in barangay Tabok around 4 a.m. when he accidentally hit Tariman who fell on the road.

Collamat said he stopped his motorcycle and helped him get up, but the official, who was allegedly drunk at the time, punched him in the face.

At about 9 a.m. yesterday, a certain Glenn Estrera also lodged a complaint at the police station that he was also punched by Tariman.

Estrera said he saw that the suspect mauling the victim and he tried to pacify the trouble but instead he was also attacked.

The police said Collamat and Estrera have yet to return to the police station after they were advised to secure a medical certificate so they can file a case against Tariman for physical injuries.
