Man shot dead by two brothers

A 23-year old man was shot and killed by two brothers in front of his live-in partner and friend in sitio Railsite, barangay Hipodromo yesterday dawn.

Police identified the fatality as Ronald Regis, a resident of sitio Semper in barangay Carreta. Regis sustained a gunshot wound near his right eye and was declared dead on arrival at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

The suspects, who were identified as J.R. and Glen Mago, immediately fled the area following the incident.

Homicide investigator SPO4 Jesus Moga said the victim, his live-in partner and their friend, Virgilio Samson, were having conversation inside a house when the suspects arrived and inquired about Samson’s whereabouts.

But the suspects noticed Regis’ presence inside the house and immediately asked the victim, “ngano man imo kong gibaligya?” Glen then reportedly drew out an undetermined caliber of handgun and tried to hit Regis, but the gun misfired.

Samson quickly intervened but the other suspect, who was also armed with a handgun, shot him but instead hit Regis in the face.

Police, who said the Magos have previous grudges against the victim, are still conducting a manhunt operation against the suspects. — Edwin Ian Melecio/LPM
