Toledo police arrest retired cop in ‘rape’ of girl, 15
A charge of rape was then filed yesterday at the
PO1 Joy Bruzas, of the women’s desk of the Toledo Police, yesterday said that Barquio owned the Sunriser Lodging House located near a beach.
Barquio usually hires his neighbors to clean the front yard of his place and the girl that he allegedly victimized was one of them.
In her complaint to the police, the girl narrated that while she was at the beach Saturday morning Barquio called her up. She went to him expecting that he would just ask her to clean the front yard of the lodging house.
As she got near Barquio, however, he told her instead to go with him inside the lodging house where he wanted to talk to her. She told him then that they could talk outside but then Barquio insisted that they have to go inside lest somebody might see them.
When they were already inside the house, Barquio allegedly forced her to go inside one of the rooms where he offered her P1,000 cash to have sex with him.
She said she refused but he allegedly raised the offer to P2,000. She said she still turned him down, then she cried and tried to go out of the room but Barquio allegedly grabbed and held her back.
The girl, seeing a gun tucked in his waist and knowing also that he was a former police, said that she was afraid to shout for help. He eventually succeeded in raping her, she alleged.
After the sexual assault, the victim told her parents about her ordeal and they reported it to the police station where they were advised to secure for her a medical certificate.
It was already late in the afternoon that Saturday so they only got the results and the certificate the following morning.
Medical tests results showed that she was raped, and this prompted the police to go to Barquio’s house. They then invited him to go with them to the police station where the victim positively identified him as the man who raped her.
