At least P2.808 million will be released by the Commission on Elections as payment for the honorarium of schoolteachers who served during the extension of Sangguniang Kabataan registration in the province and Cebu City last month.
Provincial election assistant officer Boy Gonnie Neis said that the teachers would each get P1,200 honorarium from Comelec for working on the extended registration due to the sharp rise in voters for the SK election in October.
In Cebu province and Cebu City, Neis said there are at least 1,203 barangays with 2,344 receiving committees for the extension of the SK registration. Over 58,753 applicants were received during the extension of the SK registration.
The election officers constitute one receiving committee in each barangay. The committee is composed of two public school teachers, who will receive the honorarium.
The extension for SK registration, which was conducted on July 28 and 29, and August 4 and 5, was in compliance with Comelec Resolution No. 8256.
Of the 53 towns and cities in Cebu, only Medellin and Toledo City did not create their receiving committee because all of their SK registrants were already accommodated.
The registration for barangay elections would form part of the official list of registered voters, while the list for SK is considered temporary.
